Little Robin
The poems you are about to read were
written especially for you
Each one was the result of a moment
of worth that I noticed in life
I hope you enjoy them too as much
as I enjoyed writing them
bri
Suki Dee'
I saw a little flower
I named her Suki Dee
So beautiful and delicate
For everyone to see
She rested on the windowsill
In a little vase
Suki Dee was wonderful
She always made me pause
Every time I passed her
I saw her gentle blue
She posed in all her glory
With a gentle hue
The veins within her petals
Traced like the finest gauze
Suki Dee was feminine
A little girl I saw
She came up from the countryside
Where she was not alone
She was a little flower
I picked to cheer my home
Suki Dee I named her
For ever and a day
Two little words of happiness
For everyone to say

Little 'Piggy
Little Piggy sat upon
A shelf high up the wall
She was made of china bone
And not so very tall
Her little body fat and round
Was brightly coloured pink
With polka dots in green and white
Enough to make you blink
Her little eyes seemed to look
At everything around
Her little nose turned up a bit
The end was chocolate brown
Little Piggy rattled too
Or so it seemed to me
There was a little slot on top
I thought what could it be
I gave her quite a hefty shake
To hear what was inside
Then poked around to get it out
A little knife I tried
In the end I laughed with joy
For in my hand I saw
A tiny coin round and bright
One penny - that was all!

Willy and 'the Tree
Willy rested underneath
A leafy wayside tree
The wind was blowing gently past
The branches floating free
It was quite cool and pleasant
A shelter from the sun
For Willy had been running around
Playing - having fun
As quietly he sat there
He thought he heard a noise
A grumble very gruff and deep
It sounded like a voice
Willy was astonished
He started looking round
The branches waved quite slowly down
Almost to the ground
Willy thought a moment
'Perhaps it is the tree'
And with a roar of laughter then
The tree replied 'It's me!'
'Did you think I could not speak?'
His voice continued on
Then with a little chuckle too
He broke into a song

Lindy Lou and 'Derry
Lindy Lou and Derry were
A perfect little pair
It didn't matter where they went
They always seemed to care
He thought that she was wonderful
She thought that he was too
They walked together everywhere
All day the whole day through
At times he held her by the hand
To help her on the way
To climb up steps or down a slope
Make sure she was okay
Lindy Lou was happy too
She was his little girl
She let him use her skipping rope
He gave it quite a twirl
They liked each other very much
Were friendly as can be
He gave her half his ice cream
For everyone to see
It didn't matter where they went
They always seemed to care
Lindy Lou and Derry were
A perfect little pair

Wally 'Who'
Wally was a kangaroo
Who lived quite far away
In Aussie land across the sea
Twelve thousand miles they say
He didn't walk like you and me
He wasn't built that way
But leapt and jumped with every step
And this he did all day
Wally was a kangaroo
Who lived quite far away
With koala bears and kookaburras
Who chatter on they say
He didn't speak much either
He wasn't built that way
But leapt and jumped with every step
And this he did all day
^
Thingamies'
Funny little animals
Running over the floor
Thingamybobs and Gramferjigs
Coming through the door
Tiny little creatures
As harmless as can be
Just asking everybody
'Please don't step on me'
'Put me in the garden
Where I need never fear
Where feet will never
tread on me
No babies cry a tear'
'Pick me up so carefully
Be gentle with us all
Kindly little people
Please don't let me fall'
Funny little animals
Coming through the door
Creeping past the window
Running over the floor
Harmless little thingamies
Living close to you
Funny little animals
Look! There are quite a few

Dinky 'Dory
Dinky was a little boat
So small you couldn't believe
She had a tiny sail on top
To catch the gentle breeze
A little yacht for one or two
She floated past the quay
Red and white her colours flew
Her pennant flying free
The water lapping past her bow
Sang quite a joyful song
The seagulls drifting on the tide
Swam happily along
Dinky Dory skipped and bobbed
To crest each coming wave
Down past the harbour light she sailed
A cockleshell so brave
To meet the open sea at last
To feel the heaving swell
Dinky Dory sailing on
Swept past the marker bell
The seaside crowd admired her shape
Her pretty colours too
She surged along beneath the sky
Her sail full blown and blue
Then suddenly she stopped quite still
Becalmed for all to see
The wind had dropped and Dinky was
Marooned with you and me

Dicky 'Doo
Dicky Doo loved to sing
He loved to sing all day
A little bird who sang upon
A tree beside the way
The people heard his little song
As they were passing by
A tiny melody so sweet
Some people said 'Oh my!'
Dick Doo loved to sing
Upon the hedgerow too
He sang his little song all day
Especially for you
It was a simple little trill
You couldn't quite forget
Dicky Doo loved to sing
Until the sun was set
Early in the morning light
He started up again
It didn't matter very much
Even if it rained
He loved to sing his little song
So beautiful and nice
He wouldn't change a single note
Not one - at any price

'Merrily Merrily'
Merrily Merrily was a lady
Who laughed the whole day through
She thought that everything was funny
Too funny to be true
When the alarm clock in the morning
Rang clear across the room
Merrily Merrily laughed and laughed
And sang a little tune
When the postman rang the doorbell
She collapsed in quite a heap
She thought his little hat peculiar
And that he was half asleep
And when the kettle whistled
On the stove she whistled too
And laughed and laughed until it stopped
She laughed the whole day through
Merrily Merrily was a lady
Who laughed the whole day through
She thought that everything was funny
That we were funny too
And even when she went to bed
We heard her laughing still
Merrily Merrily was a lady
Too funny to be true

Freddy 'B'
There was once a little mouse
Who was afraid of everything
He ran around the corner
If he heard a birdie sing
His little tail sticking out
Shaking like a leaf
He was completely terrified
Afraid beyond belief
There was once a little mouse
Who couldn't stand a thing
It made him quite unhappy
To hear the doorbell ring
He thought it might be someone
Looking for a snack
He quickly ran to hide away
Down through the nearest crack
There was once a little mouse
Whose name was Freddy 'B'
A silly little mouse he was
The silliest you could see
For everybody knew the truth
There was no need to flee
This silly little mouse I saw
Lived next door to me
^
Twiggy 'Owl
Twiggy Owl was very wise
A wise old owl was he
He sat high up upon a branch
High in the old oak tree
Twiggy Owl was very wise
An ancient owl was he
So old that no one knew his age
How old this owl could be
Twiggy Owl was 'very' wise
The wisest you could see
Far older than the birds around
Far older still than me
Twiggy Owl was very wise
Sat high up in his tree
The wisest owl in all the world
How old then could he be?
^
Joey Lee'
There was a little rabbit
Whose name was Joey Lee
He lived beside a meadow field
Where everything was free
With his friends and neighbours
He frolicked in the grass
They used to play and race about
To see who would be last
Joey liked the buttercups
And daisies all around
He watched the pretty butterflies
Flying near the ground
The little birds that twittered
As they perched upon the hedge
'A little bit of no cheese'
The yellowhammer said
And Mr Fox who nosed around
To see what he could find
A tiny scrap here and there
He didn't seem to mind
He loved the hum of insects
As he dozed beneath the sun
Joey Lee loved everything
Everything was fun
And in the evening twilight
As the day drew to a close
Joey saw the sun go down
He'd say 'Look! There it goes'
^
Annie' Rose
Annie Rose loved to dance
She danced and danced all day
She whirled and twirled upon her toes
Skipping every way
Her hair cascaded to her waist
Sweeping to the tune
Annie Rose loved to dance
Beneath the harvest moon
Her dainty feet moved like light
Upon the sanded floor
The music soared from bar to bar
Joined by a muted roar
Annie Rose loved to dance
She felt the rhythm flow
Her supple arms and fingertips
Matched every subtle bow
Annie Rose danced and danced
Till she could dance no more
The music ceased as Annie Rose
Sank to the sanded floor
The crowded room gazed in awe
As gracefully she lay
For Annie Rose danced thro' the night
Through till the dawning day
^
Dippy'
Dippy was a puppy dog
With floppy drooping ears
He looked quite sad and doleful too
Much older than his years
He walked and wobbled everywhere
And tried to run as well
But Dippy was so very young
Each time he tried he fell
Wobbling as he walked about
He followed us around
A tiny golden labrador
So small upon the ground
He wagged his tail to say hello
To everyone he met
Dippy was a puppy dog
The best one we could get
^
Little' Truthful
Little Truthful sat beside
The water lily pond
He always told the truth he knew
His mummy must be wrong
It wasn't him who did it
Dropped the ice cream on the floor
Forgetting as he went away
The refrigerator door
It wasn't him who took the piece
Of cake upon the shelf
Then crashed into the crockery
Crying loudly 'Help!'
Little Truthful sat beside
The water lily pond
He always told the truth he knew
His mummy must be wrong
But mummy was so angry
She couldn't hear his pleas
Everything he told her
She said it couldn't be
It wasn't him who did it
Why couldn't mummy see
Little Truthful gently bathed
The cut upon his knee

Pretty 'Dilly'
There was once a little girl
Who left her magic in the air
A gentle aura round about
She placed it everywhere
Her name was Pretty Dilly
And she wandered far and wide
The people loved her dearly
Because she was so kind
Walking through the fields each day
Down past the village row
She spoke to everyone she met
Each one replied 'Hello!'
And if somebody needed help
Always she was there
Eager then to lend a hand
To show that someone cared
Pretty Dilly danced and sang
Around the maypole too
A little princess of delight
Her dress was white and blue
She was so sweet and wonderful
The people knew her well
Wherever Pretty Dilly went
She left her little spell
^
Tidy Tim'
Tidy Tim was very prim
Tidy all the time
He alway kept his room quite neat
Clean and looking fine
There was no litter on the floor
Each piece was in the bin
Tidy Tim kept his room
In extra special trim
His mummy never scolded him
She had no work to do
Everything was in its place
She was quite fussy too
Tidy Tim kept it prim
His very special way
He spent a moment tidying up
To end his busy day
He put his little toys away
Then with his teddy bear
He folded down his little bed
Climbed in with extra care
When mummy came to tuck him in
To kiss and say goodnight
She always said that Tidy Tim
Did everything just right

The Funny Little' Thing
One morning in the spring
As I wandered through the town
I saw a funny little thing arrive
Before me on the ground
Hesitating for a while
I took a closer look
The funny little thing looked back
As open as a book
Little legs standing firm
Hair swept back and tied
It was a funny little thing I saw
I dare not tell a lie
It couldn't be so very tall
I thought about knee high
Very strange it was as well
I considered with a sigh
This funny little thing I saw
Imprinted in my mind
A picture which remained with me
No matter how I tried
It had a quite peculiar face
A little frock as well
Such a funny little thing I saw
What it was - I couldn't tell
^
'Mickey Mole'
Mickey Mole was very blind
He really couldn't see
He burrowed deep into the ground
Where he was meant to be
Mickey Mole was very blind
His nose twitched here and there
He bumped into the rocks and stones
Bumping everywhere
Mickey Mole was 'very' blind
He didn't seem to care
Where he lived it was so dark....
'IT DIDN'T MATTER AT ALL !'
^
The 'Water Nymph
I saw a little water nymph
Sitting on a leaf
She had a beauty all her own
Quite rare and past belief
I looked in wonder for a while
In awe I looked again
The light reflected in her eyes
The dewdrops and the rain
She was a little water nymph
The lilies all around
Bathed quietly in her glory
Her hair was golden brown
I sat upon the river bank
Her voice a tinkling bell
Sped wide across the waters
She asked me not to tell
I was quite still before her
For fear she'd go away
I saw a little water nymph
Her beauty made my day
^
Little 'Busy
Little Busy zoomed around
Flying through the air
Searching out the latest news
A little here - a little there
Little Busy zoomed around
To everybody's land
Writing down important notes
Her pencil in her hand
She always spoke politely
To the people everywhere
To find the truth of every tale
To show each one she really cared
Little Busy zoomed around
To every country in the world
Reporting all the news about
Exciting stories she unfurled
Little Busy zoooomed around
Leaving quite a trail
A wisp of smoke rising up
From her bobbing tail
She was so fast her little feet
Could barely touch the ground
Little Busy zooming past
Was surely homeward bound

the little doggie laughed to see such funnnnn
and the dish ran away with the spoo-oo-oo-oooon
Hey diddle diddle the c-cat and the fiddle

the little doggie laughed to see such funnnnnnnn
and the dish ran away with the spoo-oooo-oo-ooooon
